Razzama Jazz Big Band is a community band based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, directed by Craig Johnson. The band was formed in 2001 by founding director Lann Lieurance and a group of amateur musicians. Some members have day jobs and others are enjoying retirement. While a few members have come and gone over the years, the band is still going strong. We play music from the Big Band era (Ellington, Basie, Miller), as well as jazz standards and other genres of music (Latin, Funk, Blues). Craig and other members occasionally write arrangements and originals for the band. Many of our performances feature our vocalist, Lee Ann DeCoteau.
We love the variety and the chance to get together and play. The only thing we enjoy more is getting out of the rehearsal hall and playing in the community! |
